About the Author

Ana Morais Soares is a Portuguese crochet designer and a lifetime creative. She took the first steps in crochet at the age of 8, guided by her grandmother. Adolescence was devoted to knitting but the crochet bug was always there. It came out again some years ago. After a publishing and public relations career, crafts won her full attention. Besides crochet and knitting Ana also loves to sew. Her creations are shown under Menta & Pimenta Crafts and Oneskeinoflove Crochet names, on Facebook. You can find her crocheted life on her personal Instagram account or in her blog and get her patterns on Ravelry, Etsy and Love Crafts. She also designs for some yarn companies. Ana lives in Cascais, near the sea, with her husband, two sons and five cats.

This book is dedicated to the amazing woman who taught me to crochet when I was just a little girl - my beloved grandmother. I thank her for all the times she made me frog my work when a stitch was not right. And for turning me into a crochet addict!

Purple Mist

The Blanket and Border are worked using the Mosaic Crochet technique. Blanket Rows and Border Rounds are all worked with right side facing. At the end of each row or round, the yarn is fastened off and the ends woven in. Colors are alternated with the Main Color throughout. All odd-numbered rows and rounds are in Main Color.

Where the Wild Roses Grow

The main body of the Blanket is worked in Seed Stitch. The wide border is worked in right-side facing joined rounds. On the Border, when the stitches differ between the Short and Long sides, the long side numbers will be after the slash. The Popcorn Embellishments are worked onto the finished blanket – and are optional.

Cables and Puffs

The body of the Blanket is worked in rows, and the Border is worked in joined rounds. To avoid gaps along the edges, the rows start with a turning chain of only one stitch (instead of the usual two chains for hdc rows/rounds). This turning chain does count as the first stitch and needs to be worked in at the end of the following row.

Everlasting Love

This blanket is made with turned joined rounds. Instead of the usual three chains for the turning chain, only two chains are used. These two chains count as the first double crochet stitch throughout the pattern. For Color A (Whirl), start first cake from center pull and second cake from outside end.
Color B (Whirlette) is used only for Border.

All the Oceans Blue

The Blanket is worked in rows of Moss Stitch, also known as Granite Stitch or Linen Stitch. The Border is worked in joined rounds and tassels are added to each corner.

Fluttering in the Breeze

The Blanket is worked in turned rows, each row using a different color. The odd-numbered rows are worked with right side facing, and even-numbered rows are worked wrong side facing. The Border is worked in right-side facing joined rounds.

This blanket is made using the Tunisian Simple Stitch, also known as Basic Afghan Stitch, Royal Princess Stitch, or Tricot Stitch. Each row of Tunisian Crochet consists of two passes – a forward pass (pulling up loops) and a return pass (working off the loops).
